It’s an understatement that we like Lego here at Bit Rebels. As so many times before, I am getting as excited as a little kid watching this Lego build in time lapse. There is something about it that speaks to the creativity in me and so many other people. The power of the brick is just a perfect match for the Star Wars brand in my opinion. This took place during a convention to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “The Empire Strikes Back.”
Using roughly 150,000 pieces of Lego bricks, the people visiting the convention helped to build the mural of a fantastic images inspired by the movie. For each plate added to the mural, Lego donated 333 bricks to St. Jude Children’s hospital, which collectively ended up being over 1.5 million pieces of Lego bricks.
The build was completed in 3 days and stands 8 feet tall and 15 feet wide. It contains over 5,000 visitor built plates. I just think it’s amazing what you can do with Lego bricks and the number of people that they inspire each and every day. The age span of Lego has to be the widest of any product and in collaboration with the Star Wars brand, I think it’s an unbeatable combination. The power of the brick certainly is feeling the force.
