You know, now that the iPad and the Kindle (and all the rest of the tablets) are furiously entering the market with eBooks, there is a huge decline in the number of people who actually go to the library anymore. This in itself is causing a real problem that I don’t think we all know or think about. What will happen to all the books? Will there still be a financially sound reason to keep libraries open all around the world? There are of course still people that are visiting the libraries each day, but the point is that with sales steadily increasing, and the prices of tablets going down, there will be less and less people that will find their way to the libraries. So what will happen to all the thousands upon thousands of books that are harbored in the ghostlike library aisles?
Well, one genius designer and recycler decided to take on the challenge and came up with a neat and quite simple book hack that might interest you. Rookcases on Etsy creates authentic book cases for the iPad and Kindle that will have your tablet go stealth on your butt in an instant. The hack and design in themselves aren’t very hard to accomplish, but the end result is quite stunning and the hard case of the spine of the book keeps the tablet safe from any kind of shock or bump… almost.
The cases sells for $36.95, but if you plan to get one, you need to hurry because it seems they are selling out fast. It’s a good thing there are a ton of books left to create these iconic cases. I somewhat feel saddened by the destruction of Sherlock Holmes and The Hobbit books since they are pretty much the core on my list of favorites. But then again, if I can buy it for my tablet and have the spine from the real book, isn’t that really almost the same thing? It’s a brilliant hack!
