What do you do when you have applied for a job, and it is offered to you? How do you know working there will be fun, challenging, and inspirational? It’s probably one of the most difficult things to determine. However, we are going to take a look at a few tell-tale signs that the position you have been offered is not one you should take.
There are plenty of signs that will tell you whether you are going to like working at the job you have applied for. The signs might be hard for some people to spot, but once you know what to look for you will know immediately.
Let’s have a closer look at an infographic called “First Signs You Should Not Accept That Job” created by Approved Index. It outlines ten quite obvious signs that if ignored will turn your excitement into dread. Alright already, what are the signs to look for?
[pullquote]One of the very first signs you should look for is whether the interviewer talks good or bad about co-workers.[/pullquote] It doesn’t often happen (at least to my knowledge), but this is occasionally the reality for some people attending an interview. It’s a bad sign and one that you should take seriously. If they do it to their co-workers, they will most likely do it to you as well.
Another one is if the people you are talking to are overselling the job. How good can a job be? If they have to oversell it then it usually means that they are compensating for something that is bad and that they are not telling you about. Ask questions and keep looking for signs. If they have already offered you the position, you can ask in-depth questions about it that you might not want to before you have been offered the job.
Also, make sure to observe what facial expressions of the employees working there. Look at their posture. What do their eyes tell you about their everyday grind working for the company? This can be a revealing tell-tale sign of what kind of workplace you will enter when you start working.
Have a look at the other signs presented in the infographic below. Knowing all of them could spare you the headache of having to work for a company that drains your will to succeed. Never settle for a job that you are not looking forward to going to every morning. Life is more than a constant grind. Try to keep an open mind and build towards your preferred future. It will happen. It just might take a little time getting there.
