I’ve talked to a lot of people this season who are already exhausted from all their holiday shopping. ‘Tis the season to be jolly, spend time with family and friends, and give gifts to our loved ones. I’m the only girl I know who doesn’t like shopping, and if I can’t buy it online, I normally don’t buy it at all.
If someone I’m close to is a technology geek like me, there’s nothing better than buying that person the latest gadgets. I love buying apps and gadgets anytime, any day for any holiday. As far as everything else goes though, I’ve always thought handmade gifts were a lot more meaningful than store bought gifts anyway.
This year presents from the heart are even more special since many people are feeling the financial crunch and reconnecting with the things in life that matter the most. Yumi Sakugawa from WonderHowTo put together this very clever little chart below with 10 Thrifty DIY Gift Ideas. My favorite thing on this list is the memory jar, and I’m going to make one of those this weekend for someone special. The secret safe book is pretty neat too. I hope these ideas will give you some inspiration to create your own handmade gifts this year. As cheesy and cliché as it sounds, there really is no gift as special and memorable as a gift from the heart!
