A Breakfast For Lovers: Heart-Shaped Egg Design

Even though Valentine’s Day this year has come and gone, there are still creative love and heart designs popping up all over the Internet. When you think about it, it makes sense. We shouldn’t limit ourselves to expressing our love to people we care about on just one day of the year. I’ve seen more heart, cupid and rose designs in the past week than ever before, and I wish it were like that always.

This one is extra special because it’s extra cute. Anna, an artist originally from Japan and now living in New York, likes to make traditional Japanese bento. If you are unfamiliar with bento, here is a Google Images link for you. The moment you see it, you will probably recognize the style. Since many restaurants in the States now sell bento, it’s becoming more and more popular.

Since she is used to designing food, it only makes sense she would know how to skillfully create this precious heart-shaped hard-boiled egg design. According to Anna, the only supplies you need to make this are an egg, a milk carton, one round chopstick and some rubber bands. You can read the complete tutorial on her blog at AnnaTheRed’s Bento Factory. I absolutely love this, and I’m going to try it for sure!
