Delicately Embroidered Love Notes & Tweets To Inspire You [10 Pics]

There is something about seeing embroidered text that is always inspiring to me. In our technology world where many of us have forgotten what it’s like to write in cursive with a pen on a piece of paper, it’s soothing and nostalgic to see words that are meticulously sewn into fabric. It’s a skill that dates back hundreds of years, and the fact that these words create mini love notes makes them even more special.

Iviva Olenick learned how to sew when she was in kindergarten. Back then; she specialized in sewing sock puppets. Today, she focuses on what’s called narrative embroidery. The pictures I put below are from her collection called Embroidered Post-It Notes & Tweets.

She basically takes scraps of fabric and sews inspiring love notes on them which she gets from tweets, from herself, or from the people who commission her art. It’s very cool how expressive and clever she can be in such a small space, but that’s what we say about Twitter too, right? 140 characters is plenty if they’re used right. Iviva sometimes gets introspective and very personal in her love notes, and other times, you can tell she is laughing as she sews them.

If you go to her blog called Were I So Besotted or her Google+ page, you’ll see many, many more examples of her artwork. If you’d like to see another embroidery and technology mashup, check out these Embroidered Email Designs. Oh, and these Embroidered Chex Cereal Pieces are kinda neat too. Since a piece of Chex cereal has holes in it, it makes sense that it could be embroidered. All this almost makes me want to go find a needle and thread to see what I can make with it. Almost.
