Paintings of Junk Food: American Culture Illustrated

I’m not sure if I’m writing about this because my friend @Minervity is eating a big ‘ol chocolate bar right now, or if it’s because I’m hungry, but these paintings of junk food are making my mouth water.

This series of paintings, called “American Still Life,” is Pamela Michelle Johnson’s way of depicting American culture. It’s all about junk food, and lots of it. According to Pamela, “American junk food is not just a part of our diet, it epitomizes our cultural ideals and social norms.”

Each one of these paintings is five or six feet tall and takes Pamela two months to finish. You can read a very interesting interview with Pamela here and check out her official website here. Nice job Pamela!
