Star Wars Origami Folds The Galaxy Into Submission

We have featured a lot of Star Wars related awesomeness here on Bit Rebels throughout the years, and we’re not about to stop anytime soon. In fact, I am going to treat you to some rather incredible Star Wars origami today that I just know will blow your mind. Origami, as we all know, is a mathematical form of paper folding. I call it paper plane folding. The mathematical part comes in when planning your origami creations. In order to create something recognizable, you have to carefully plan each and every fold, and that’s how the more advanced origami creations are born. Whether these Star Wars origami creations started that way I have no idea, but what I do know is that their appearance looks so simple even though we know these are anything but easy to create.

For UK origami artist Martin Hunt, the urge to create origami representations of the different spaceships from the Star Wars galaxy became too great and that resulted in this series of mind-blowing folds. The project, called Starwarigami, could easily be downsized in awesomeness since there are quite a few patterns out there that will allow you to fold pretty much everything from the Star Wars galaxy.

For Martin, the challenge was more important than the visual result, so he took the long route and started coming up with his own folds. They are more detailed and more complex than most of the patterns out there. As you can see, Martin’s way of portraying the Star Wars galaxy through Star Wars origami is not only a statement of excellence, but also a reminder that no matter how complex the task in front of you is, there is always a path that leads to a great and positive result. These Star Wars origami creations are some of the most impressive I have seen to date, and I hope that we’ll see more reality altering Star Wars origami from Martin in the near future. Maybe the new Disney Star Wars movies will spawn yet another series, we can only speculate and hope.
