Star Wars Posters: They Don’t Get More Minimalistic Than This

When I look at really creative and impressive posters, I always get a little childish thinking that I want to plaster my walls with them all over again. You know, just like we did when we were little kids, and we had every chance in the world to act like it as well. My walls were completely covered in Star Wars, Lamborghini and, of course, the mandatory game posters. I was obsessed with them, but unfortunately, just like every other kid, I threw them away when I got older to make my room a little more fit for a teenager. However, now when I take a look at the awesome posters made available by genius and skillful artists around the world, that little tingle in my fingers gets all evident again.

Posters don’t have to be all elaborate and busy like the ones during the 80s. They can be slim and very minimalistic in style and still make a huge impression on me. Jon E. Allen has a way of really capturing the essence of the objects he makes posters of, and his Star Wars posters are no exception. With very few lines and colors, he manages to capture the very true magic of the whole movie in a single yet ultimately awesome poster for each of the original movies.

With these posters, it is easy to see why Star Wars is the theme of choice. The simple yet recognizable shapes of everything that comes from Star Wars is unmistakably clear, so it makes perfect sense that these posters are created the way they are. What I am most impressed by is the simple coloring expressed in the images. It’s nothing too extravagant, and it’s the shapes of the objects that are in focus, not the usual pew pew laser effects that keep confronting us in every other sci-fi movie poster ever created. This way, you get the sense of deep space silence that you seldom experience with busy posters. All I can say is that they are brilliantly created in every way!
