The Traffic Light Tree: Nature and Industry Combined

Apparently this has been a fixture in London for a while, but I just saw these pictures for the first time today, and I can’t stop staring at it. It’s so unusual and surprisingly beautiful and… Well, you just check out the photos below and let me know what you think.

Created by French sculptor Pierre Vivant, this traffic light tree is positioned near Canary Wharf. It stands eight meters tall and is made from 75 sets of lights. A computer individually controls each traffic light. This sculpture represents the combination of nature and industry in that busy financial district.

Of course, there are those party poopers on the Internet that insist, “This is dangerous because it could cause a traffic accident.” I can promise you, if I saw this structure of lights, I would know it wasn’t an ordinary traffic light and I would drive accordingly. C’mon people! I know we have a lot of readers that live in London. I hope someone leaves a comment here to tell us what this is like to see in person. I bet when it is lit up at night, it’s stunning!
