Paper craft is very intriguing for me. I love how the Japanese have transformed paper folding into an art form.
Wikipedia describes Origami from ori meaning “folding”, and kami meaning “paper” as the traditional Japanese folk art of paper folding, which started in the 17th century AD and was popularized in the mid-1900s. It has since then evolved into a modern art form. The goal of this art is to transform a flat sheet of material into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques, and as such the use of cuts or glue are not considered to be origami. The number of basic origami folds is small, but they can be combined in a variety of ways to make intricate designs.
Even if we say that origami is a traditional art form, we can update it into modern origami by adding some variety and incorporating technology via a LED light. Think Geek sells the modern origami at USD $14.99. They are called a Papertronics LED Desktop Toys. They are paper toys with electronic circuits inside. Now you can enjoy this toy as an addition to your origami collection or use it as a night stand lamp or night light. Adding the LED bulb truly gives the paper craft a new twist. What do you think?
