World’s Largest Chocolate Sculpture (9 Tons Of Chocolate)

Whoa! This is awesome! Breaking a world record seems to be a popular way to get a lot of free publicity lately. We see a lot of companies gather all their employees to break world records to celebrate their company’s anniversary, to promote a good cause, or even just to raise morale. About six months ago, the creative people at World’s Finest Chocolate broke a world record by making the largest chocolate bar which weighed in at about 12,000 pounds. You can read about that here.

Well, it didn’t take long for a group of motivated chocolate lovers to come along and break that record. The people at Qzina Specialty Foods, in celebration of their 30th anniversary, have created a chocolate bar (or sculpture) that weighs 18,239 pounds (8,273 kg)! There are several different ways to measure a ton, but according to the way we measure it in the States, that is 9 tons of chocolate!

With everyone talking about the Mayan calendar ending soon, combined with the fact that the Mayans played a huge role in the discovery of chocolate, it made sense to them to make a Mayan inspired sculpture of the Temple of Kukulkan at Chichen Itza. And, yes, in case you are wondering, this sculpture was made to look just like the real temple. This sculpture, which is surely the world’s most delicious temple, will be on display until December 21st… which is the day the Mayan calendar ends. All I have to say is, if the world ends that day, it will be sad that nobody got to eat this glorious monstrosity! If you would would like to read more about this, you can click over to Qzina.
