1. As a Creative Director, what were the key creative decisions you made during the Chanel and Elle Canada collaboration that helped the project stand out and resonate with both brands & audiences?

The key was in weaving the timeless elegance of Chanel with the dynamic, fashion-forward spirit of Elle Canada. My creative process for the campaign involved showcasing the intricate craftsmanship of Chanel’s couture collection while appealing to Elle’s editorial vision.

For the most recent shoot, inspired by ballet, I explored modern interpretations of this classic art form—playing with the fluidity of the models’ movements, incorporating various props, and choosing a faster-paced edit alongside an unexpected contemporary soundtrack. This balance between tradition and innovation helped the project stand out for both brands.

2. How did your skills and expertise contribute to the overall success of the Chanel and Elle Canada campaign, especially when it came to balancing the unique visual identities of both brands?

My fashion background, combined with the expertise I’ve gained through creating videos with dancers, was instrumental in capturing the essence of Chanel’s ballet inspired pieces. Understanding how garments move allowed me to highlight the fluidity and elegance of each look.

In the campaign, I focused on the graceful movement of the models, creating visuals that spoke to Chanel’s timeless sophistication, while also aligning with Elle Canada’s modern, edgy aesthetic. This balance ensured the campaign’s success, resonating with both brands’ audiences.

3. At Christie’s, you’ve worked on high-profile projects involving luxury watches, art, and jewelry. What creative techniques did you use to ensure these items stood out in a crowded marketplace?

My approach is rooted in storytelling. By diving into the history and provenance of each piece—whether it’s the artistic inspiration behind a painting or the lineage of a luxury watch—I work to highlight where these items came from.

I often blend cinematic beauty shots with archival footage and a carefully selected aesthetic to draw attention to the craftsmanship and legacy of each item. For instance, using archival footage of space to elevate a vintage Rolex that had been worn by an astronaut. This choice emphasized its rarity and elevated its historical significance, helping it stand out in a competitive marketplace.

4. Many of your videos for Christie’s have gone viral and driven significant sales. What do you believe are the key factors that contributed to the success of these projects?

I have found that our audience connects with the origin of a piece as this is what makes these items one of a kind; whether it’s the rarity of the Eden Rose diamond or the craftsmanship of a Birkin bag. I also tailor the video content for social media, utilizing visually engaging formats or trends which resonate with digital audiences and help the videos achieve viral status.

5. Can you walk us through how your creative direction helped craft compelling stories around iconic pieces, such as the Eden Rose diamond and the vintage Rolex, and how that storytelling impacted sales?

For the Eden Rose diamond, I focused on the rarity of the piece by having a specialist discuss its unique qualities, and incorporating close-ups that highlighted its brilliance.

This storytelling approach connected the audience emotionally to the diamond’s history and value, driving interest. Similarly, for the vintage Rolex, I combined beauty shots with archival footage, underscoring its legacy and rarity, which helped attract significant attention and contributed to its successful sale.

6. Looking at your work across both fashion (Chanel & Elle Canada) and fine art (Christie’s), what sets your creative approach apart and has made these projects successful?

What distinguishes my approach is my ability to fuse visual storytelling with a deep understanding of the items we are highlighting. I focus on crafting narratives that emotionally engage the audience while elevating the luxury and craftsmanship of the piece.

My ability to adapt my creative vision to align with the unique identity of each project while keeping the audience experience at the forefront has been the cornerstone of my success across fashion and fine art.
