Jonathan Baker’s Oscar Night Viewing Party Draws Industry Crowd To Private Estate

As Hollywood paused to watch the Oscars unfold on March 15, another story was quietly taking shape behind the gates of Baker Manor.

Filmmaker Jonathan Baker welcomed a select group of guests to his annual viewing party, held inside the historic estate once owned by Warren Beatty and Annette Bening. Away from the scale and spectacle of the city’s biggest Oscar night events, the evening carried a different energy, more intimate and more deliberate.

Inside, the night moved easily between conversation, celebration and quiet networking. The guest list brought together industry figures, creatives and international visitors, reflecting the increasingly global nature of awards season.

The evening itself unfolded with a seamless blend of indulgence and style. A curated group of sponsors, including Cardinal du Four, Croatian Premium Wines, STATUS Champagne, Hive 20, Voss Water, Charles & Company, Fat Sal’s, Hollywood Photo Booth, Velvet Eyewear, Cotrini Skincare and The Style Den, added a refined yet contemporary layer to the experience.

Guests moved between spaces while sampling Fat Sal’s signature, indulgent sandwich creations, before gravitating toward a vibrant, chef-driven taco bar by Ask 4 Tacos, offering a dynamic culinary contrast that matched the tone of the night.

But the gathering was not only about watching the ceremony. It also offered a glimpse into Baker’s next chapter.

His upcoming feature, FATE, became part of the evening’s conversation, a supernatural romance that bends time and memory. The story follows Sam, a firefighter recovering from a life-altering accident who is sent to a secluded rehabilitation center known as the Vista. What begins as a period of recovery turns into something far more unusual when he discovers a hidden portal on the property that transports him back to the 1950s.

There, under a new identity, Sam becomes entwined with the past of the location and meets Tilly, forming a relationship that becomes the emotional core of the story. Beneath the romance lies an unavoidable tragedy, a catastrophic fire that once destroyed the property decades earlier. As timelines begin to blur, the question becomes difficult to ignore: Can the past be changed, or is fate already written?

Back at Baker Manor, the real-world guest list included Gilles Marini and Carole Marini, James Van Patten, Johnny Whitworth, Sofia Milos and Richard Kind, along with E! Entertainment Television founder Larry Namer. Also in attendance was Kelly Decsy, reflecting the broader mix of professionals whose work supports the global nature of the entertainment industry. Guests from fashion, media and digital spaces moved easily through the rooms, adding to the layered atmosphere of the night. Representatives from the Los Angeles Consular Corps further underscored the event’s international reach.

A branded photo booth added a modern touch, capturing moments as the ceremony played on, while conversations stretched across rooms and terraces, unhurried and organic.

In a city known for scale, Baker’s gathering chose something else, proximity. Conversations lasted longer. Introductions felt more personal. The night moved at its own pace.

As Oscar night celebrations continue to evolve, evenings like this suggest a subtle shift, away from spectacle and toward spaces where stories, connections and ideas have room to breathe.
