I am so excited to revisit something that I have been looking for ever since I wrote Lego Microscale Builds: Minimalistic Vehicle Awesomeness about a year ago. I can’t believe how fast time flies when you’re having so much fun like we are having here at Bit Rebels. It seems that microbuilds aren’t very popular anymore, which I totally think is a shame. Not only are they stunning to look at, but they are also a challenge to put together. Some people may think that just because a Lego build is small, it is a fast one to create. However, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. To get a lifelike microbuild to really stand out, it takes hours of planning and trial and error. But when it’s done, it could leave even the most epic scaled builds in the dust.
This time around, we’re entering a galaxy that even us humans haven’t been able to recreate just yet. It’s the realm that every science fiction movie is born from and the masters of it, at least when it comes to Lego, are all the contestants of a Lego build contest over at Flickr called Mi-Fi. The builds, which had to be microscale, were each created as dioramas. They depicted famous science fiction movie scenes that I am sure most of us have seen at some point in our lives.
It’s amazing how much sci-fi can be squeezed out of a few Lego blocks, but then again I don’t think I have to remind anyone that Lego really is the ultimate building block. The question is whether or not we can nail down every single scene from these dioramas. Can you? Are you a movie geek enough to know them all? If you think you do, please don’t hesitate to tell us about it in the comment section below. Lego microbuilds are back, and we love it!
