Freaky Anatomical Sculptures Created In Everyday Wood Items

We’re constantly faced with odd and interesting gadgets, items and situations throughout our every day lives. We’re somewhat used to some level of oddness, and it’s only when odd becomes weird that we actually start paying attention to the thing. Yeah, it might sound strange, but that’s how it is. For example, if you walked by a statue of a guy holding a baby over an edge that would of course catch your attention, right? Well, the next time you wouldn’t pay as much attention to it since you have already seen it before. That’s how we humans work, and it’s how our brains store information. We parse through it quickly, and if we find that we have seen it before, we simply dismiss it.

When I saw what wood artist Maskull Lasserre created, I was not only insanely impressed, but I was also totally grossed out, for what reason, I don’t know. The whole installation was kind of eerie, and I felt really odd after checking out all the items. It’s the kind of art that makes you think about the detail and the awesomeness of the skills involved before you completely switch sides and start thinking about the motifs.

The detail is mesmerizing, yes, but the creations are far from what I would ever have laying around in my house. I am sure anyone would agree. An axe with a spine handle is freaky. However, the other items take it to a whole different level. I have no idea how long it must have taken to create these things, but I am definitely sure it must have taken ages. I can’t even fathom how the process works to create these pieces of art, and I am sure I am not supposed to know either. Maybe I don’t even want to know, right? It’s a brilliant use of wood, and master skills for sure. Awesomeness gone eerie is all I can say about these wooden sculptures.
