There are some questions in life that can haunt you forever. For example, “Why is the grass green?” “Why is there war?” “How many licks does it take to get to the bottom of a Tootsie Pop?”
I have another question to add to that list, it’s something I’ve always wondered, “How does an escalator get cleaned?” Until I saw this video today, I always thought there was probably a cleaning system underneath the stairs in that big metal casing.
Of course, when I was a little girl, I also thought a monster lived under there that wanted to grab little kids and suck them under at the bottom of the moving stairs, but that’s a story for a whole different post. Now I see that the answer is much simpler than I originally thought. This is brilliant! I’m sure that from now on, whenever I’m on an escalator, I will remember this article. ;)
