LEGO Version Of The Classic Apple II Computer (Including Internals)

There is just something about LEGO versions of vintage Apple computers that are always so intriguing to see, especially when they’re full of detail and look just like the original. A few months ago, Powerpig built The First Macintosh In LEGO. In case you missed it, you can see the pictures by clicking on that link. Since then, the builder has created a kit which you can purchase to make it yourself. You can get that at Powerpig’s Builds ‘n Things.

Today I have another LEGO version of an Apple computer to show you. This LEGO version of the Apple II computer was created by Hong Kong builder Chiu-Kueng Tsang. The part about this one that makes it so special is that he even rebuilt the internal parts of the computer with LEGO bricks. It includes two floppy disk drives, a keyboard, a greyscale monitor and a removable top so you can see inside where the daughter cards and other internals live. He even included the correct Apple logo.

The Apple II was created back in the ’70s. I’ve never seen one in person, and if you haven’t either, I thought I would include a description. According to Wikipedia, “The Apple II is an 8-bit home computer, one of the first highly successful mass-produced microcomputer products, designed primarily by Steve Wozniak, manufactured by Apple Computer and introduced in 1977.” Production for the Apple II (styled as Apple ][) ended in 1993.

I pulled these pictures from chiukeung‘s flickr photostream. I’m going to check back there in a few weeks. Who knows, he might decide to post a tutorial since this build has been so popular. If I see that he does, I’ll come back here and post it for you!
