When we were young, pretty much all of us dreamed at some point about building something epic out of LEGO. The thing is, usually people don’t have that many blocks. This ultimately results in smaller and less epic builds with less possibilities, but for some people, the dream never goes away. It stays with them until they are adults and can earn money enough to buy a boatload of amazing LEGO blocks. With their newly acquired treasure, they set out on a journey that will take them to the land of imagination. For a particular builder, it resulted in a life-size LEGO go-kart that is just too epic to try and describe. I don’t think these pictures and video do it justice. Not only is it epic, but it’s one of those builds that you just keep staring at because of the amazing solutions it incorporates.
This life-size LEGO build, conceived and executed by Eric Steenstra, might look like a lunar lander or something out of a sci-fi movie, but it’s the work of one man. It probably won’t break the land speed record anytime soon; however, it might just get the top score for being the most intricate and most solid build ever to have been accomplished by a LEGO builder. The fact that it is a life-size LEGO car is just the beginning of its epicness. We should also remember that this thing is built and driven by LEGO bricks alone. Even the wheels are carefully put together by LEGO.
There have been a lot of life-size LEGO creations presented throughout the years, but none quite like this. Maybe Eric will find a way to speed up his creation and even work a little on the steering. It doesn’t look like it has any steering at all at the moment. But as with everything, doing something that no one else has done before takes time and apparently a lot of LEGO bricks. When this is finished, if it will ever be finished, I think we’ll all be cheering with excitement. The achievement of making it move at all with a person on it while knowing it is just made out of LEGO is amazing to me. The life-size LEGO builds are definitely coming on strong in the LEGO community. Maybe we’ll see a life-size motorcycle soon as well. Whatever it will be, I am sure it will beat everything we are able to imagine at this very moment.
