Lil’ Death Star: Now Star Wars Fits In Your Pocket

In my ongoing quest to find things that miniaturize our world, or rather the fictional one, I have come to a new and ultimately inspiring stop. The handcrafted awesomeness that modders and creative people pour out is usually mind-boggling, but this particular thing I have a hard time putting into words. To explain or express my admiration for this kind of art is something I think I will always work on since the hours these artists put into their work are beyond comprehension. I know people who can’t even play with Lego without getting frustrated, so when you see things like this that are on such a micro-mini scale, you start to wonder how the heck the artist could keep his or her composure during the building process.

A perfect example of insane craftsmanship is the Lil’ Death Star. It’s the entire Death Star created using a ping pong ball. The detail that has gone into this badboy is just mind-twisting, and when you have a closer look at it, you can’t help but wonder how it was all done. It was created by someone calling himself tatumaru5963 and was posted on a Japanese website. More details are not available unfortunately.

I don’t know where someone even gets the idea to turn a ping pong ball into a Death Star, but the creativity is amazing, and I have never seen anything quite like it. There is of course a boatload of various Death Star creations out there that will impress even that most hardcore sci-fi fans, but this one is in a league of its own. As you can see, there are already a bunch of ships created so it makes me wonder if there at some point will be a little mini-movie made. I guess only time will tell, and we will definitely keep an eye open for it. This totally deserves an “Awesomeness Defined” seal of approval!
