As some of you may remember, I wrote about the Barad-dür tower made entirely out of Lego a couple of days ago. It was widely appreciated, and we’ve had a lot of interest in that one ever since. It was one of those epic builds that we rarely get to feature here on Bit Rebels. We’re constantly on the lookout for more epic stuff, especially when it comes to Lego, and it turns out finding that epic build was only the tip of the iceberg. The Barad-dür Lego tower was actually a part of a much bigger build. As a matter of fact, the entire Middle Earth of the Lord of The Rings was recreated using just Lego and the tower of Barad-dür was the main attraction for it.
The Middle Earth Lego build wasn’t solely built by Kevin Walker (who built the Barad-dür tower), but by many Lego pioneers who wanted to lend their skills for an epic exhibition. It was one of those majestic showcases that if you were/are a huge Lord of The Rings fan, you just had to go and check out. The 200 square foot Middle Earth created out of Lego was revealed at Brickworld 2011, and when I say it was Middle Earth, it was the entire Middle Earth, every single part of it.
The project named Journey of the Fellowship 2011 can be viewed in its entirety over at MOCpages. It’s one of those have-to-be-seen moments that if you thought your build you are working on right now is epic, it wouldn’t even stand a chance if compared to this insane installation. It’s like watching the movies or reading the book in still images. It’s fractions of a second recreated in Lego, and it has it all. The detailed and correct recreation of these fragments are just beyond beautiful, and it will certainly bring back a lot of memories from when you first saw the movies or read the books. It’s just epic in every sense of the word!
