Real Superheroes: Spider-Man Window Washers Surprise Sick Children

I was in the hospital a few times when I was a child, and I can tell you from experience, it’s no fun at all. The last thing a kid wants to do is sit still, and in the hospital, that’s pretty much all you can do. When I read about these stories, they warmed my heart. Spider-Man, or Spider-Men I should say since there were two of them, and Captain America did something so special. They are real superheroes in my opinion. They are the three window washers at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

They dressed in costume to clean the windows and bring some unexpected cheer to the children in the beds on the inside. This happened last fall. Fast forward to five days ago, and Spider-Man struck again, only this time at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. They had some really slick Spidey moves too! Scaling down the side of the building like that can’t be easy, even for real superheroes.

In both instances, children and adults on every floor of the hospital heard the news about the Spider-Men and ran to the windows to get a glimpse of these real superheroes. For the men who decided to dress in costume, it was probably just a fun afternoon of work. But for the children in the hospital who had nothing but another boring day of laying in bed to look forward to, it created a memory that will last a lifetime. This just goes to show us that we don’t have to come up with an elaborate, fancy plan if we want to impress a child and make him or her light up with joy. It’s the little things in life that matter, and sometimes something as simple as putting on a Spider-Man costume is all it takes.
