Star Wars: An Imperial Walker (AT-AT) Inspired Design

Since I’m in the computer business, I have a dozens of boxes of old computer parts in my house. I never know what to do with that stuff. I know it’s worthless junk, but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it just in case I need it someday. Sure enough, every once in a while, I’ll find a perfectly good cell phone battery or hard drive in the stuff people give me, but mostly, it’s all just scraps of metal.

Etsy artist Sage Werbock (TGNsmith), who specializes in recycled metal works, also had some old computer parts taking up space. He created something brilliant with it all. This is an Imperial Walker (AT-AT) from the original Star Wars movies.

According to Etsy, “The main body is composed of power supply boxes, the head from floppy drive housings, legs and feet from various scrap metal.” He welded it all together and then painted it gray. He even made sure it has “battle scars.” What a creative way to recycle those old parts. My only question is where would you put such a thing? I think it might have to live in the backyard. Surprisingly, it only weighs 15 pounds.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen people inspired by the legendary Imperial Walkers. I included a picture below of the AT-AT made out of duct tape, and the AT-AT bunk bed, both built by fans. If you would like to buy Sage’s AT-AT made out of computer parts, you can do so for the bargain price of $450. Just head on over to his Etsy Store.
