Star Wars Characters As Colorful Mexican Day Of The Dead Art

It was a while ago when I wrote an article that celebrated the work of a Mexican designer named Jose Pulido and his way of portraying Star Wars in the form of Mexican Traditional Art. I really thought it was the most wonderful way of combining two different geeky and awesome art forms. But as we all know, there is always someone who will take it a little bit further, and this time it’s even in color. Even though this Star Wars is pretty much the same concept as the last time around, you can be sure that there will be a lot of people taking even this to the extreme. It’s not very hard to appreciate the collaborations of different subjects like Star Wars and Mexican art. You really have to celebrate the creativity these people put into their work.

This time around the Star Wars creativity comes from a designer called Captain Magnificent (or John Karpinsky as his name is), and just like before, it has to do with the Dia de Los Muertos. John created 4″ x 6″ portraits of different Star Wars characters, and you might think he stole the idea from Jose Pulido. That’s where you are wrong. John decided to take it up a notch and started creating colorful and vibrant art instead of the black and white full bone figures that Jose had previously created.

I think these are the ultimate Star Wars wall poster art, and I would surely not mind putting a couple up around the office. I could sit and stare at the details on these fine prints all day long and marvel over the creativity. Combining Star Wars with Mexican art was a truly magnificent move Jose and John. Brilliantly executed!
