I believe that a person trying to break a Guinness World Record is awesome. I imagine setting a record is even more amazing. I found a video of a girl from New Zealand who broke the 100 meter hurdles wearing flippers. Imagine how difficult it is to walk using those enormous flippers! Here you see her running, jumping and accomplishing the feat in 19.278 seconds. I tried just walking using swim fins once, and it was hard! They are heavy and so large that if you are not careful, you will tumble over for sure, take it from me.
According to Wikipedia the Guinness World Records, known until 2000 as The Guinness Book of Records (and in previous U.S. editions as The Guinness Book of World Records), is a reference book published annually, containing a collection of world records, both human achievements and the extremes of the natural world. The book itself held a world record, as the best-selling copyrighted series of all-time. It is also one of the most stolen books from public libraries in the United States. Yes, one needs to really go the extremes to break the records. Would you be willing to do it?
Here is the video of the fastest 100 meter hurdles wearing swim fins (female). The record is 19.278 seconds and was achieved by Veronica Torr (New Zealand) on the set of NZ Smashes Guinness World Records at the Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand.
