When you spend all day surfing the Internet looking for interesting material, like I do, you come across some pretty unusual things that people do. I always say that after some of the things I’ve read, nothing surprises me anymore. However, usually as soon as I say that, I read something that makes me think, “Whaaaaaat?” This is a perfect example.
I just finished writing a post about sunshine and the happiness it brings to our life. Now I’m writing about a couple who chose to spend the happiest day of their life outside, in swimming suits, in the water, in -30 degree Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit) weather. Yep, this couple got married last weekend in these conditions.
The next obvious question I have is, why? I don’t know. Why does anyone do the crazy things they do? I guess because we only live once, and perhaps what seems crazy to me is a dream for them. And if we don’t try to live our dreams, what is life all about anyway? So, I send this newlywed couple my best wishes for a long and happy life together!
The ceremony took place in the Enisel River in the city of Krasnoyarsk in Siberia. I suppose swimming in this kind of weather in Siberia isn’t all that uncommon after all. You can read more about it in this article entitled Going To Extremes: Would You Swim Here? The really cute part of this story is that they couldn’t get a priest to get in the water to marry them, so they exchanged rings and cheered in the water, and then went into a warm cozy wood cabin for the “official” ceremony. Aww… how sweet! Congratulations Sergel and Irina!
