California Road Trip – These 3 Cities Are Must-Visit Destinations

The first thing that usually comes to mind when someone says they’re going on vacation to California is a theme parks adventure. While Anaheim and San Diego can definitely show you a good time, California has so much more to offer than the tourist traps. If you’re looking for a more unique vacation, be sure to include the following three cities in your ultimate Cali road trip.

Palm Springs

Palm Springs is a favorite destination for celebs, and many have made it their home. The city has great weather year-round, beautiful scenery, and plenty of things to do. Stay in a downtown Palm Springs hotel to put you minutes from the main street and its hundreds of antique shops, vintage boutiques, and quaint home furnishing stores. There’s so much to do in the city, and there’s a free hop-on-hop-off trolley to make your trip easier. You can explore the city all day and then lounge in the pool back at your hotel after a fantastic dining experience.

If you’d rather enjoy nature on your Cali road trip, Palm Springs is home to the pristine Indian Canyons and Tahquitz Canyons with miles of trails for you to explore. Just be sure to bring a jacket because if you ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, you’ll rise 8,500 feet. Hot air balloon rides and rock climbing are also popular activities in Palm Springs.

San Francisco

If you don’t plan on road tripping so far south, San Francisco is a must-stop California location. The crimson bridge, stunning mountain backdrop, and crashing waves will make your vacation feel surreal. This large city has something for everyone from nightlife to relaxing hiking. The best part is there are San Francisco hotels all over the city, so you can stay near any of the attractions you’d like.

The top attractions in San Francisco include Fisherman’s Wharf, Muir Woods National Monument, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz Island. If you have time, try to hit them all. You can also experience a wine country tour, see a game at AT&T Park, or attend the San Francisco Opera. San Francisco is also home to several botanical gardens and conservatories, so you can explore nature.

Los Angeles

Los Angeles is so big that you could spend a month in the city and still not experience everything there is to do. It’s home to several five-star restaurants, and it has one of the largest airports in the U.S. Staying in a Los Angeles hotel is actually a great hub point for most of the Cali road trip stops you’ll want to make. It’s only a short distance from Anaheim, San Diego, Long Beach, Pasadena, and Torrance.

While you’re in Los Angeles, be sure to see a Laker’s game, stop at one of the many museums (MOCa, LACMA, and the Broad), and be a contestant on The Price is Right. The city never goes to sleep, and the number of restaurants and bars available is phenomenal.

You don’t have to take the same boring road trip everyone makes to California. Book a hotel today. Palm Springs, San Francisco, and Los Angeles are awesome places to visit in their own right.
