What is CBD? – if you don’t know the answer, we are here to tell you. CBD is one compound, that is short for cannabinoids, from the cannabis plant. Scientists have always looked at the possible therapeutic uses of the CBD. These oils contain concentrations of CBD.
The most common compound in cannabis is delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC for short). This one is also the most active ingredient in marijuana. Marijuana has CBD and THC, and they both have different effects.
THC is that substance that makes your mind go “high” when you smoke it or cook it. However, the CBD is quite different. In comparison with THC, CBD is not psychoactive, which leads to the fact that CBD doesn’t change how a person acts or feels when they use it. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s not producing changes to the body – it comes with medical benefits.
The CBD oil comes from a plant called hemp. Both hemp and marijuana come from the very same plant, called Cannabis sativa, but, again, they’re very different.
In time, all the marijuana farmers have bred their plants to have higher levels of THC, due to the fact that the compounds produced a certain smell or had a certain effect on the flowers of the plant. On the other hand, hemp farmers don’t really modify the plant. These are what they use to create the CBD oil.
The effects in the body are produced by attaching the CBD to some receptors. Keep in mind that the human body also produces some cannabinoids on its own. It has two receptors for cannabinoids: CB1 and CB2. The first ones are placed in the brain, and they have to deal with movement and coordination, emotions, mood, pain, appetite, and memories. THC attaches to these kinds of receptors. The second ones are common in the immune system. They have to deal with pain and inflammation. It was first believed that the CBD attaches to the CB2 receptors. However, they found out that the CBD doesn’t really attach directly to any of these receptors.
The CBD oil is a natural pain relief and anti-inflammatory helper. People have found out that CBD reduces significantly chronic inflammation and pain in mice and rats.
It also helps you quit smoking. A study has found that those people who use CBD oil smoked fewer cigarettes, and didn’t feel the need to crave nicotine. Also, a similar study has shown that CBD might also help in treating people with opioid addiction. The oil reduces some of the symptoms that are known to appear in substance use disorders.
