Until a few years ago, I’ve always thought guys with beards were like an enigma, a mystery wrapped in a riddle. Now I have a very close friend who sports a beard every so often, and I’ve learned to accept it a little more. As a woman, I cannot for the life of me understand why a guy would want all that hair on his face, but then again, what do I know. Maybe it feels cozy and warm, or maybe guys with beards grow it to stand out from the crowd. According to this chart, 98% of the world’s lumberjacks, warriors and badasses have beards. My dear friend is definitely a badass, so I guess that explains it.
Since I’m so perplexed by beards, I was intrigued by this beardographic created by Online PhD. It pretty much covers everything you would ever want to know about the history, science, and even social implications of being a bearded gentleman. When I was a little girl, I was scared of men with beards. Now beards are growing on me a little.
One thing is for sure… If you have a beard and you like it, I agree with this beardographic that you shouldn’t shave it off to make a girl happy. It’s part of who you are! Don’t let anyone cramp your style. Instead, just find a girl who will embrace your beard and love it as much as she loves you.
