If you are a regular reader of The Oatmeal, you know that website is always good for a laugh. Whenever I need something to make me smile, I head over to that website because there is always a comic there that will brighten my day. I saw this one there today, and it was such a good one, I had to share it with you here too. How many of you completely suck at taking photographs? *raising my hand* I actually thought they would look better with my iPhone 5, but then I was reminded once again that usually poor pictures are the result of the photographer, not the camera. But with this comic, we can finally learn how to master the art of taking incredible photos of our friends.
I still can’t stop giggling over this. Whenever I’m about to take a picture, I can’t ever seem to stay still enough, I’m constantly messing with the settings, and I always seem to click the button a moment too soon or too late. Quite honestly, at this point, I don’t know if I will ever learn how to master the art of taking flattering photographs, but hey, at least I don’t tag them all and post them on Facebook. I draw the line with that bad habit.
Sometimes I think it would be easier to learn how to master the art of Photoshop than to learn how to master the art of photography. In the meantime, let me apologize to all my friends out there. I probably do make you look like this comic says…blotchy red-faced mutant pork people or inbred barbarians. Someday I’ll learn how to take better pictures, or maybe I’ll just wait until Apple improves the iPhone camera even more. At the rate smartphone cameras are getting better, someday they might all take excellent pictures regardless of the photographer – or maybe that is just wishful thinking.
