The Most Common Phobias In Creative People [Infographic]

Creative people who have structured their lives so they can do what they love seem to live lives of dichotomy. On one hand, they get to spend their days in their own creative world where they take all the ideas in their brains and turn them into realities for clients and for themselves. But on the other hand, there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we don’t often get to see.

After reading an article that Richard wrote a few days ago called an In-Depth Look At The Graphic Design Career, I realized for the first time how stressful having a creative career can be. Sure, creative people might be the ones who get to wear vintage t-shirts and blue jeans every day and hang out at Starbucks with their laptops and iPads, but they still have to overcome many of the same obstacles that people in traditional jobs have to deal with on a daily basis.

In this very cute and cheeky infographic called The Common Phobias Of Creatives (by Column Five and The Creative Finder), we get to see some of the things that creative people have to deal with each day. I think many different kinds of entrepreneurs dread dealing with a lot of these same things. For example, I can see it coming a mile away when someone feels like they know me well enough to ask for free work. I don’t like saying no, I hate it actually, but I’ve learned over the years that it’s important to explain that this is a business. If you are a freelancer, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about. The fear of the “light of day” on this infographic made me laugh. We do spend a lot of time on our computers, there’s no doubt about that. Look on the bright side though- Geeks and creative people typically don’t wrinkle as much as they get older since we aren’t out in the sun as much as other people. Yay!
