Presidential Speech To Be Read If 1969 Moon Landing Failed

Neil Armstrong, the first human to ever set foot on the moon, just died 5 days ago on the 25th of August from complications during heart surgery. Mr. Armstrong was 82 years old. The millennial events that took place in 1969 have become synonymous with human ingenuity and the drive to conquer the known universe. The phrase “That’s one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind” is one of the most celebrated and mentioned quotes in human history, and it will probably stay that way for eons to come. But there were also some words written on paper yet never spoken. A presidential speech was prepared in the event that something went wrong and Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin never returned home to earth again.

Recently this presidential speech surfaced and it’s both sad and epic in style, as it should have been if something had gone wrong. I think we can all agree that it would have been the ultimate loss if neither of the historic events that took place on the moon in 1969 would have happened. Of course, thoughts linger to the question about whether or not Neil and Buzz knew about this speech before they went up to the moon, or if they were told about it after their return.

I am sure there are plenty of presidential speeches laying around that fortunately never had to be read in public. This one is of such magnitude that if it was ever read by the president, it would have altered the course of history. Luckily both Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin returned safely to earth and became the rightful heroes which they will remain throughout history. It’s both odd and amazing that there are so many different courses of events that could have been played out, and that there are speeches around that are easily switched out in order to fit both tragedy and success. However, I think this one is one of the most profound ones in existence, and it’s a weird experience reading it. We might ask ourselves whether or not it’s real. Who knows, this could very well be just another fake thing people upload to the Internet in order to watch the viral streams do their job. Do you think it’s real?
