Why is it so much easier to believe the negative things people say about us rather than the positive things? Why is it so hard sometimes to realize how great we are? Why do we allow other people to steal our joy? Maybe it’s just human nature. Maybe it is because we want evidence of our own success before we will believe it, when in reality; we need to have the belief in the absence of that evidence.
One thing I’m learning is that there is a big difference between playing this game of life to win, and playing it not to lose. It’s the difference between playing offense or defense.
Life is full of choices and it is the choices that we make in each moment of each day that determine our destiny. Dream big and realize the only limitations that are placed on us are the ones we place on ourselves. Create a vision, a vision so big that others will want to step into it. Remember, what we focus on is what we’ll get, so make sure you are focusing on something that feels really good. We’ve all heard this little poem by Frank Outlaw, a grocery store manager from South Carolina. It is still a great reminder:
Watch your thoughts, they become words
Watch your words, they become actions
Watch your actions, they become habits
Watch your habits, they become character
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny
