The Bird’s Nest Restaurant: Dine Peacefully While Sitting In A Tree

One of my favorite types of creativity is the kind that expresses itself in a way where lots of people from around the world can benefit from its inspiration. Whether that’s a blog that a lot of people read, a resort that a lot of people visit or a food design that a lot of people eat, it’s always a win-win and I love it. I remember a few months ago when I wrote about the restaurant built at the base of a waterfall because it was a surreal experience to write about it. It is a creative restaurant in the Philippines, and I felt all dreamy as I typed the words and posted the pictures in that article.

Today it’s time to slip back into that dreamy state again since I’m writing about another unusual and creative restaurant I’d love to visit. What you see below are tree pods (or as I call them, bird’s nests for people) where you can dine when visiting the Soneva Kirl Eco Resort in Thailand. Each pod is about 16 feet off the ground, and some are perched in the sunshine and some in the shade.

Since these are designed to be so far up in the air, the server visits your table to take your order and delivers your food by flying through the air via zip line (I want that job!). You need a refill on your tea? No problem, your server will just fly through the trees attached to a cable, land on the little landing strip around your nest and fill up your glass. Each nest is basically a huge wicker basket with leather straps. As you see in the pictures, it looks really cozy and the view is spectacular. This is definitely going on my list of places I want to visit. Does anyone want to come with me? I wonder how long the flight from Atlanta to Thailand is…
