Even though we are into September, the first official day of fall isn’t until September 22. That means we have 12 more days to get as much summer as we can into our lives for this year. If you live in the South like I do, it’s still very hot, and a watermelon is as refreshing now as it was back in June. I thought you might like this little fruit hack that will show you how to make a watermelon smoothie (with no mess) in less than 2 minutes.
Sure, you could use a blender or a juicer for this process, but for this hack, you’ll need a drill and a coat hanger. Not only that, but if you do this, you’ll be the hero in your family. It’s an interesting little trick, and you could probably do it with other kinds of big melons too.
YouTube hacker Mark Rober demonstrates how this works in the video below. In addition to the drill and coat hanger, you might also want the optional plastic cup and knife (to make the spout for easy pouring). In the end, you’ll have the freshest, most organic and delicious watermelon smoothie ever since it comes straight out of the fruit and into your cup.
There is one question that many people online seem to be asking about this though, and that is, what happens to the seeds? Is it possible to buy seedless watermelons? I don’t know the answer to that question, but I suppose it wouldn’t be the end of the world to manually pluck out the seeds. I did manage to see a few pro tips over on YouTube. Pro tip 1: use a clean coat hanger otherwise it could be gross. Pro tip 2: add a little vodka to your glass before pouring your watermelon smoothie in there (for extra flavor and fun).
