A Tribute To All The Dads On Twitter

I love being a mom, it’s the best job in the world and my number one priority. I am friends with lots of moms on Twitter, and I remember writing this article as a tribute to all of them.

However, I’ve never written an article to celebrate the dads before. When I was 12, my own dad left my life when my parents divorced. I only saw him a few times after that until the day he died. However, in the two days before his death, we shared as much love as any other father and daughter do in a lifetime. We laughed, cried, told jokes, shared pictures, and smiled. Then he let go and died, quietly and peacefully.

I have a very close friend who is a dad, and he’s going through a hard time right now with his daughter. He loves her more than life itself, and it breaks my heart to watch him suffer. Since today is Father’s Day in some parts of the world, it got me thinking a lot about fathers and the role they play in our lives.

When we are young, our dad is our real life superhero, our source for wisdom and our everything. I found this poem written by Joanna Fuchs, and these pictures on The Berry. I would like to dedicate this to all the dads on Twitter, especially to my dear friend going through a hard time now. Dads, just remember, even though at times in life we might not always show it, your children love you dearly.

Everything Daddy

A little girl needs her daddy
To love her with manly charm,
To soothe her when she’s hurt,
And keep her safe from harm.

A girl needs her dad
To show her a man who’s good,
To help her make right choices,
As only a father could.

A woman needs her father
Just to be aware,
He’ll always be there for her
To sustain her and to care.

You’ve been all these things, Dad.
I hope that you can see
How much I treasure you;
You mean everything to me.
