I find myself coming back to Pinterest over and over again. It’s like my entity needs to get a fix from it in the form of visual content and the interaction therein. There’s no doubt I have become locked into the ways this new social networking service connects our senses with other people’s sharings. It’s become a casual yet ultimately important outlet for my need to organize what visually impresses and makes an impact in my daily life. I guess that is exactly what Pinterest is for really… to organize, share and allow other people to see things from your perspective. It’s something that is almost impossible to get with any of the other giant social networking sites (meaning Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn), at least visually.
For me, it’s not about the numbers on Pinterest, it’s about the impact that the images and videos make on me. My hope is that they will make an equal impact on someone else’s life, and by doing that, hopefully we can all join in on an effort to make something go viral. Even though I don’t want to approach it from a metrics aspect, I do understand that this is a part of it all that will make the harmony complete for this service, if you know what I mean.
In order to get great results faster, you always need greater numbers, whether you want them or not. I wouldn’t call it a necessity to reach out, but a way to increase the chance of something actually going viral at some point. What could you do to rake up more pins and repins on Pinterest? That is a question that I think a lot of people are asking themselves on a daily basis, especially if you are using Pinterest as your main output for ideas and inspiration.
Dan Zarrella of HubSpot put together a little infographic that might explain the relationship between your content, your interaction and the results from it. Dan put together another infographic that I found quite useful a while ago called How To Get More Clicks On Twitter, and this one might be an extension of that series about getting more interactions from your content sharing and conversations.
Once again, you will be served a meal of numbers that could potentially increase your overall influence on Pinterest. As always, nothing can compare to a personal and updated status feed, so interaction is key people. Never let the convos become secondary if you want your following to be unique, lively and vital. Freshness is what people like, and that can only come from you since it is your social networking feed.
