Twitter App | Peek Into the Bedroom of Your Favorite Tweeple

This article is about a goofy little Twitter app that was recently released and introduced to me by @CTK1 and @mayhemstudios. It’s so addictive and fun, so of course, I have to share it with you.

One of the most delicious aspects of Twitter is that it makes being a stalker not only fun, but socially acceptable. We can secretly watch people we are curious about and get a truly intimate look into their lives, their thoughts and their attitudes.

This app allows us to take our covert prying and spying one step further. http://www.sleepingtime.org, developed by @labnol, pinpoints with surprising accuracy what hours we sleep. According to the site, “Our algorithm will determine the approximate sleeping schedule based on the time when he or she stays least active on Twitter.”

At first, I thought that since this app assumes the time we spend off Twitter is always spent sleeping, it would have to be inaccurate, although based on all the reactions seen on http://www.labnol.org (a few of them included below), apparently it’s correct a lot of the time. According to that site, “the algorithm uses the timestamp of the last 500 or so updates of a Twitter user to calculate his or her sleeping time.”

For me, it says that I sleep between 9pm and 3am. It’s true that I usually get up around 3am and get on my computer, which means I’m on Twitter; however, I don’t usually don’t go to sleep as early as 9pm. I’m off my computer by then though, so I can see why it thinks I’m sleeping.

When you start putting in the usernames of your Twitter favorites into this app, watch out, you’ll get sucked in and waste a lot of time. Yep, this goes on the guilty pleasures list for sure!
