Here we are, it’s February 11th. If you have not gotten your sweetie a gift for Valentine’s Day yet, it’s probably a good time to start thinking about it. Personally, I think Valentine’s Day is overrated. If we love someone, we should show him or her everyday, don’t you think? To have it all come down to how nice the gift is on February 14th seems a little silly. I’ve always thought a sentimental gift on a random Tuesday was much more romantic, but that’s just me. I know a lot of people who really, really get into Valentine’s Day.
I have great news for you. Now that we live in a social media world where Twitter and Facebook have officially infiltrated our daily lives, planning for Valentine’s Day just got a lot easier. Gone are the days when you have to slave over a piece of paper with a pencil to scribble a poem, or actually get in your car and drive to the florist to pick out some flowers. Now you can just schedule a tweet to your girlfriend, and order a gift online. In the world of social media, everything, even Valentine’s Day, is easier and takes less time. Is that a good thing? Is the minimal effort it takes still a romantic gesture? I’d like to think so.
In this video, created by Socialnomics, you’ll see firsthand the effects of social media on a holiday like Valentine’s Day. It’s very cute, definitely funny, and so true. See guys, you still have three days. In the social media world, that’s like a lifetime, so you have nothing to worry about if you haven’t found the perfect gift yet!
