It is pretty obvious that vaping has taken the world by storm. Its popularity continues to grow and so does the industry itself. Of course, there are bound to be a few snags as this world expands and one of those hiccups are disposable vape pens.
These things are quite popular, but they are also going to become a waste issue, which is one reason Circonomy Solutions is trying to develop a recyclable option.
It should be noted that Circonomy Solutions was actually hired by Singlepoint to find a solution to this problem. Singlepoint is in the cannabis business and understands that the marijuana plant needs a healthy planet to grow as it should. One reason CBD oil is so potent is because it is grown with care, and the planet deserves the same respect, at least in the point of view of this company.
Singlepoint has been investing not only in cannabis but also in innovative and green solutions for some of the issues affecting the cannabis industry, which is the reason they are attempting to create a recyclable vape pen instead of the disposable one used today. At the beginning, these pens were relatively long-lasting, but many people did not know this and threw them away.
Companies took notice of this and also saw that demand was growing, which is what led to the creation of poorly made, disposable vape pens. These pens will continue to be thrown away and could have a detrimental effect on the environment in the long run.
There are some vapers out there who do care for the environment and some attempt to recycle these pens, but most of the time recyclers ignore the pens. It should also be noted that there are several remote areas in the country where people do not have access to recycling plants.
It makes sense that recyclers don’t care about vape pens. Most of these devices come with other components such as cotton or polyester and LED lighting. The recycling process does not separate what is recyclable and what is not, which is one thing Circonomy Solutions is going to attempt to address.
An additional recycling issue surrounding vape pens is the oil that is left behind. To recycle an item, it needs to be spotless but these pens are not. These pens contain oil, which puts the vape pen in the same category as jars with jam or peanut butter still in them.
The recycling process involves a pretty precise chemical process that can fall apart with the presence of contaminated items. In short, this problem is not too easy to solve, but the eco firm, Circonomy Solutions, is definitely taking positive steps forward.
At the moment, the company is in the research stage, trying to figure out how to break apart vape pens so that the valuable parts can be recycled. The company is going to release a few pilot programs as soon as this stage is complete. One thing the company is going to try to work into their plans is ensuring that there is a mail-in or drop off program for the e-waste inside these pens. Perhaps some parts cannot be recycled but can still prove valuable to manufacturers.
It is easy to see that this industry still has a lot of kinks to work out, but it does seem like some of its biggest players have a clear vision for the future. These companies are attempting to create a sustainable industry and one that the people of this world can be proud of.
