While most entrepreneurs are chasing profits, some spend their time building their companies from within. It might not be immediately apparent, however, success could be harbored up within your venture instead of in the constant optimization of numbers and margins. The more we research the clearer the picture becomes that success relies as much on the culture and beliefs of a company as in the numbers. There are virtually countless examples of this if we start looking at the most successful tech companies in the world.
It could very well boil down to just having the right mindset and core values for customers to flock to your brand. If your venture has a culture and message that speaks to a lot of people, you could get a lot of the success you seek for free. If we take a look at Google for example, their goal is quite simple, “Basically, our goal is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” It also helps that their company motto has long been, “Don’t be evil.”
Successful entrepreneurs know that to think differently – or to be different – is not something bad or something that will cripple the success of your venture, quite the opposite. Larry Ellison of Oracle said it best when saying, “When you innovate, you’ve got to be prepared for everyone telling you you’re nuts.”
The top successful tech companies in the world all have some sort of culture which sets them apart from the rest. This is why it’s so important, as an entrepreneur, to have a look at your own venture and see if you have a set goal – a mantra – that depicts the mindset that your company stands for and strive to always uphold.
To help you understand the important concept of thinking differently and to be different, as a company, MidAmerica has put together an infographic that highlights the core values of the top 7 successful tech companies in America. It’s called “Core Values Of America’s Top 7 Tech Firms By Market Cap.” Once you dig into this infographic you will definitely see the benefits of adopting a culture and mindset that sets your company apart from the rest. Remember, to be different or to do things differently does not mean that you do things wrong. There are many paths to success and only a fraction of them have been traveled.
