How many of you totally played the crap out of your GAMEBOY when it was first released? Even the monochrome one was a huge success, which to me says a lot about innovation back in the day. Then the “color” one came about and the hype increased. The games were as retro as you can imagine, and they pretty much delivered the same kind of awesomeness that its big brother Nintendo NES did. It was a glorious time for Nintendo that is still lingering on today. Of course the handhelds and the consoles are way more advanced today, but they are still built upon the same thought foundation as back then, which is mainly to make people enjoy an alternate universe in the form of a game, whenever, wherever.
We all know that GAMEBOY has had its share of face lifts since its introduction. It has become one of the most powerful handheld gaming devices on the market. However, with all these devices being announced, demoed and released by Apple, it’s safe to say that the “i” era is completely on top of us. So of course we need a GAMEBOY that is ‘i’-ified, right? This is probably why Patrick Staudt set out to create the ultimate GAMEBOi.
It’s a concept design of just how the GAMEBOY might look if it was “Applified” to the core. It’s a rather sleek and interesting design that of course leaves us with a lot of questions. Will it run iOS? Will it have the same menu structure that the iPhone 4 has? How powerful will it be? And of course, will it run iOS applications like a boss? These are things that we will never know unfortunately since I highly doubt we will ever see this badboy as a real gadget. However, in the virtual world, everything is possible. So, behold the GAMEBOi, the only device from Nintendo that has gotten the iPhone 4 treatment.
