Here’s The $9.3 Million iPhone 4S

I think we will soon see a viral tutorial on the Internet about how to pimp out your iPhone because it seems there is no stopping the pimpification of every new gadget that comes out. It’s like a curse, a blessing or whatever you want to call it. Everything from your household remote control to the tiniest cufflinks get the gems and diamonds to possibly impress everyone that lays eyes on them. I sometimes wonder if the jewelers of today have unlimited depth in their pockets since they are able to pull out gemified gadgets for tens of millions of dollars time and time again. What’s even more impressive is that there are actually people out there who put their money where their mouth is.

Latest in the row of pimped out gadgets has to be this new iPhone 4S. This time around it comes completely encrusted in gold, diamonds, Tyrannosaurus Rex bones and other luxurious stones. Even the box it comes in is pimped out to the max. The fact that it is valued at $9.3 million should make anyone short on cash start to cry. That is, unless we all want to walk around shimmering in diamond crystals and flashing people with our golden beautification.

I find it to be kind of over the top. I say this not because of the art perspective itself, but the fact that the technology they pimp out is probably going to be obsolete in 6 months and completely abandoned in about two years. Before you have even made a couple of calls on this badboy, it will already be yesterday’s retro technology. The only way to get that daily milk from the store will be to carefully remove each carat of those diamonds and sell it to the highest bidder. However, from an art perspective, this is pretty damn cool. I guess I have to say what everyone else is thinking, it was just a matter of time, right?
