Yesterday I wrote about some exciting news that might mark the beginning of consumer products being instantly delivered over the Internet and printed through our home 3D printing hardware. It was Teague who announced they are now allowing people to download their 3D printable headphones for free. It’s a huge step for consumers as well as manufacturers which I think will have a ripple effect throughout the industry. Even though there are a ton of 3D printers available on the market, most of them are for industrial use only. Home 3D printing hardware has yet to catch up to the same number of options that manufacturers have to choose from. And that is exactly what we are going to be talking about today.
A new home 3D printing hardware has just been announced through Kickstarter, and it is a solid competitor to the MakerBot that we have heard so much about. This particular home 3D printing hardware is called PandaBot, and it is a project currently looking for pledges from all around the world. This 3D printer will cost roughly $800 and will pretty much be as solid and precise as the MakerBot. I am sure if you compare the specs for these two pieces of home 3D printing hardware, you will find some differences, but they both have their strong features which will make them headbutt for attention amongst home 3D printers.
The PandaBot looks a lot simpler than the MakerBot though. It looks a little bit more like a consumer product. You won’t have to assemble several pieces just to get started. All you need to do is put together two pieces and then get going. It’s really as simple as that. The PandaBot project is looking for funding because they want to take the next step in production. The home 3D printing hardware is all worked out and functioning, and now it’s time to make it available to the public. If you are a huge fan of 3D printing, this is something you just have to take a look at.
