Tony Stark’s arc reactor has been inspiring people since the first Iron Man movie was released. We once wrote about a guy who tried to create an arc reactor to propose to his girlfriend, but this is the first time we’ve featured an actual tutorial so you can make your own. With Halloween right around the corner, and cosplay events all year long, I’m sure this will come in handy when you’re ready to channel your inner Tony Stark (as Becky Stern says in this video).
This isn’t some cheesy arc reactor that just lights up with a few LEDs. This one is a gorgeous electronic glowing reactor that comes complete with its own pulsating effect. You can customize it so it lights up in whatever color you like, and you can also change the pulse rate to your liking.
This is another creative adafruit project, and you can get the step-by-step directions by clicking over to Superhero Power Plant on adafruit learning center. You can get the gist of it by watching the video below. You wouldn’t even need a costume to make this arc reactor look fabulous. It could stand on its own with just an ordinary t-shirt. If you were to go out with this on, you would no doubt run into people everywhere who would want to know how to make their own.
This is one of those special DIY projects that will inspire happiness and amazement over and over again. Becky makes it look easy, but in reality, this could be a two weekend project if you know what I mean. It will all be worth it in the end though. If your sweetie is a fan of Iron Man too, you could make two of these while you’re at it. Aww…now wouldn’t that be romantic?
