There are a few questions people ask themselves when it comes to smartwatches and their features. How powerful should a smartwatch really be in order to be useful? Is a smartwatch camera really necessary? How big does the screen have to be in order for the smartwatch to make sense at all? When it comes to size, it’s ultimately important to think about usability over comfort. That is something the Android smartwatch called the Rock is definitely battling.
We haven’t heard too much about the Rock smatwatch and its features, or at least I haven’t. The smartwatch itself is something out of the ordinary, and in my own humble opinion, it’s one of the few really cool smartwatches on the market today. Keep in mind though that I am personally a sucker for big watches, especially if they have an industrial design to them. This is definitely a smartwatch to check out if you are looking for a watch that is a little bit ahead of its competition. It’s an Android smartwatch that peers into the future.
There is a race going on when it comes to smartwatches and their features. Apple is waiting to see what the market wants before they put together their own “innovative” smartwatch, and that is how they will play the game this time around as well I am sure. In the meantime, other companies are actually leading the way when it comes to features and designs. Whether the most popular device will be an Android smartwatch or an iOS smartwatch is hard to say, that’s for users to decide.
I am sure we’ll see quite some innovative designs over the next year or two. So what exactly can this Android smartwatch do, and why should we get one? Let’s take a look at the specs right away, shall we? This particular Android smartwatch, dubbed the Rock, has a 2-inch capacitive screen, 8GB micro SD slot and a 2MP Camera. That’s not bad for a device you put on your arm. It of course also has a SIM card slot as well, so you can connect to the Internet and call someone using the touchscreen user interface, which seems to be pretty solid (at least when you look at the demonstration video).
If you’re thinking about buying this beast, you will have to be prepared to cough up some $213.85 over at Chinavasion. Included in that price is also a free 8GB TF card. It is not a bad price for a watch that is currently on the edge of Android smartwatch technology.
