Darth Vader & Son: The Cute Moments Never Seen

It’s weird how movie companies and script writers recycle almost entire lives for the characters they put in movies. I mean, look at it. There are so many box office movies and franchises out there that mimic each other in order to maximize the viewer’s emotional pull to the movies themselves. It’s almost odd in a way. You could go into a movie theater on pretty much any day, and you will find a movie that has inherited the storyline (to some extent) from a movie that we have already seen. Take Harry Potter, Star Wars and even In Time, which would be the most recent addition to my thesis. They all have one thing in common… the main character always misses one or both parents.

Well, what if that was not the case? For example, what if Darth Vader would have actually taken responsibility, like any dad should, and actually be an active parent when his son, Luke Skywalker, grew up? Wait, would his son then be named Luke Vader? Alright, let’s not go into all that jazz. Let’s focus on the scenario I just described and think for a moment. It turns out we don’t really need to. Illustrator Jeffrey Brown actually turned that idea into a really awesome and cute little book.

Now you can venture into the unknown and see what a quirky, fun, not to mention patient, dad that Lord Vader might have been. It shows the two doing everyday things, and it will put a smile on anyone’s face, I am sure. The book, called Darth Vader and Son, will be available on May 4th, 2012 and will only cost $15 to buy. This is one of those books that I think is a necessity for every Star Wars fan since it will further inject a sense of realism into the storyline of Star Wars. Besides, it would be good to see a happy “ending,” or should I say beginning, for once, right?
