13 Whoa-tastic Cardboard Portraits Of Historic Personalities

We have featured some of the world’s most amazing artwork here at Bit Rebels throughout the years. Some people are born with limitless creativity and a never doubting strive to create something no one else has done. Many struggling artists know that all it takes is a fresh idea to set their career off on a path among the stars. Whether the cardboard portraits that Giles Oldershaw carefully created are his ticket to fame is for viewers around the world to decide.

The world has been treated to a lot of fresh art, and some of that includes miniature pencil art, banana peel art and a whole lot of other stuff. These cardboard portraits deliver a different kind of awesomeness since they are created through a process of peeling off the layers of cardboard. It’s not a simple feat if you don’t know what you want to achieve. However, looking at these cardboard portraits makes me think that cardboard was always meant to be used to create these portraits.

Using a scalpel and a fresh mind, Giles has managed to perfect the skills he uses to create these cardboard portraits which are mind-boggingly stylized. If you have a big enough sheet of cardboard, it would make for a formidable wall piece that would surely impress any guests you might have. The process is simple and could be described as nothing more complicated than peeling off the layers of the cardboard in order to create the effect of shadows and detail.

Whether or not these cardboard portraits will become well-known artwork of the future is impossible to speculate about, but I think they are at least going for a viral ride around the Internet. Sometimes that is the only thing needed to send a skillful artist like Giles into orbit. Do you know all of these historic personalities? I was trying to pen them all down, but I had trouble identifying a few of them.
