20 Mind-Bending 3D Body Paintings By Lisha Simpson

We have covered body paintings quite a lot here at Bit Rebels. Last time it was Alexys Fleming’s extraordinary body paintings that we took a closer look at. This time around we are going to have a look at the mind-bending 3D body paintings by artist Lisha Simpson. Remember, when you have a look at them, try not to twist your mind too much. You will have to twist it back once you are done reading this.

If you have seen the 3D art that street artists sometimes paint while at carnivals and events, you know what to expect. If you are placed at the right position from the art itself, the 3D effect is breathtaking. This is the case with Lisha Simpson’s 3D body paintings as well. Her secret is the black background. It helps her disguise the spacing of her art and thus achieve the desired effect she’s after. It’s incredible how well this little trick can cheat the eye thinking it’s not even there.

Unlike Alexys, who uses her upper body, Lisha uses her hands and arms as her canvas. Intricate patterns and details make them into whatever she wants them to be. By adding some clever 3D trickery and a black background, she’s able to make her arm look like it doesn’t have any flesh. It’s one of those “Whoa!” moments.

Some of her 3D body paintings seem to hover in mid-air. Some are creepy enough to keep you wondering how they were done. Some are just beautiful, and some are just too mind-bending to understand.

We have compiled 20 of her most amazing 3D body paintings for your viewing pleasure. Have a look at them and tell us in the comment section below which ones you think are the best. Our favorites are probably the twisted fingers and arms. They make your head hurt to the point where you need to look at something else for a while. If you know of any other body painting artists, please let us know down below as well. We are always interested in featuring more artists here at Bit Rebels. – Lisha is always uploading new ones to her Instagram account. Don’t forget to check them out as well.
