The weather is slowly getting colder, and I’m definitely hoping we get some snow this year. A few days ago, I wrote an article about How To Build An Igloo, but today it’s all about snowmen. Don’t be embarrassed if you don’t know how to build one. It takes a little practice; although I’m sure people I know who live in snowy places are giggling right now. Maybe it just takes practice for some of us.
In order to build a good snowman, you have to have snow that will pack. You can test this by trying to make a snowball. If the snow is too fluffy and doesn’t stick together, it’s not the kind of snow for building a snowman. I found a tutorial on How To Build A Snowman.
One thing I’ve always wanted to know how to do is put rosy cheeks on my snowman. I’ve never known how to do that until I found this really old post on Martha Stewart that explains very simply how to do it. You just put one cup of water into a spray bottle. Add 5 drops of red food coloring. Shake it up. Then you simply spray the colored water onto your snowman’s cheeks. Now he has a nice glow on his cheeks, just like we’ll probably have when we’re building him. I think this is so much fun. It reminds me that little things in life matter too.
If you don’t have a hat for your snowman, you can pack some snow in a deep bowl or pan and flip it over on his head.
